Best Body Pillow for PregnancyGetting a good night’s sleep is important and that is why you want the best body pillow for pregnancy that you can find.

But how do you know which one is the best? There seems to be all kinds of different sizes and shapes. Let me show you the three that I found to be the best, depending on what you are looking for.

But first, why not just use regular bed pillows? I did this for my first pregnancy and it can be done. But…it wasn’t always easy.

Often the following would happen: I would be lying on my side, one pillow under my head, another between my knees and one or two more behind my back to give me support. But, the one behind me wasn’t quite right – so I needed to shift in order to bunch it up more or move it higher or lower – somehow getting it to feel right. Then I would reposition the pillow between my knees and the one under my head.

It was great until I woke up to discover one of the pillows had fallen out of the bed. Or the bunching up of the pillow had flattened out. Or I needed to turn over and lay on my other side. So I would start the whole process over again.

You get the idea! 🙂

When I discovered that there were “body pillows” – that women used while pregnant – I was one happy lady. A good night of sleep is definitely worth getting one. So lets see which ones I liked the best.

U Shaped Body Pillow

U Shaped Body PillowFor someone like me who turns over often during the night, a U shaped body pillow is very attractive because you won’t need to shift the pillow at all.

U shaped body pillows also work great to keep you from turning and sleeping on your back – which is not a good thing to do when you are pregnant. If you are naturally a back sleeper, then it can be difficult to get used to sleeping on your side all the time. The Comfort U Total Body Support pillow is great for making sure you are sleeping on your side.

I like this particular body pillow because the filling is made in such a way that it won’t clump and it also allows air flow so that you don’t get too hot.

Pillows like these are not small and can take up a lot of room. However, most people find that it works fine in a queen size bed.

Memory Foam Body Pillow

Embrace Memory Foam Body PillowAnother option to consider is memory foam. This is firmer than the standard body pillows.

While I researched body pillows made with memory foam, I discovered that they can be both heavy and warm. This is why some women do not like the memory foam body pillows when they are pregnant.

But others loved them regardless of weight and heat. The warmth part was described to me like the heat from another person. So if you get really hot when you are pregnant, you may want to avoid memory foam.

One particular memory foam body pillow did seem to be a favorite for a lot of pregnant women – the Embrace Memory Foam Body Pillow from Sleep Innovations. So if you are looking for a memory foam body pillow, I recommend you check this one out!

Full Body Pregnancy Pillow

Snoogle Body PillowIf the u shaped pillow seems too big and the memory foam pillow seems too heavy, then the Snoogle Total Body Pillow may be just right.

Not as large as the U-shaped body pillow, this wraps around you with it’s “C” shape. The main difference between this and the U-shaped pillow is that if you want the pillow to support your back the full night, then if you turn over you are going to need to shift the Snoogle as well. Most women did not have any problem getting used to doing so, and found it much easier than adjusting several regular size pillows.

The Snoogle is still large, but not as large as the U-shaped pillows.  So if you are concerned with size, take a look at the Snoogle.
